These are uncertain times for all business owners especially the service industry. People are staying home, self-isolating and generally staying away from public places. I am sure you are noticing people postponing or canceling regular appointments. As business owners you relay on this income to pay bills and rent. While it’s unclear exactly how long the coronavirus will be part of our lives I recommend that you adapt your business to help supplement some of this lost revenue.
As you have seen from the news in all cities people are coming up with all kinds of creative ways to keep the cash flowing. Delivery & online ordering have become the way of life for a lot of people to receive products. Even though the service side of your business may suffer at this time you can still SELL your retail products. I know many of you have not focused on this avenue of revenue but this might be the time to change up your business model to include a delivery service OR online sales.
Most businesses have product that they retail but most businesses have their customers come in to purchase their products. Since that isn’t happening now maybe you can take the products to your customers. Assuming you have a customer contact list – you can let them know that you will deliver (or have delivered) the products they need.
Send out a policy to all customers, and include for those that still want to come in for treatments, what you are doing during this time of COVID-19. Detail the extra disinfecting being done to your Spa/Salon. For those that are self-isolating or don’t feel comfortable coming in for treatment let them know that you can deliver their products that they need. Give them tips and tricks to maintain a healthy skincare regime. Make yourself available for consults by phone or email if they are having issues with their skin.
